Clubs Set To Clash At Lizzard Hurricane Surf Session

Clubs Set To Clash At Lizzard Hurricane Surf Session

Date: 2014-12-12
The Annual Lizzard Hurricane Surf Session has had a record number of entries to date and is looking to be one of the biggest events on the SA Surf Calendar for 2014. The competition has attracted top PRO surfers as well as young novice beginners. The competition will form part of the launch of the Umhlanga Summer Festival 2014 and runs in association with Surfing South Africa.

The highlight of the event will be the TAG event which will see five teams from the various surf clubs along our KZN Coastline take part on 14 December. Each team must consist of at least one lady surfer and four men surfers.

It will be very exciting for spectators to watch the top SA surfers performing and will also be cheered on by Zulu dancers and refreshed by the Just Juice brand ambassadors. From South Coast Scottburgh 'Skulls Club' - the team will be headed up by Casey Grant, Gavin Roberts, Jason Harris, Dingo Russel and Sarah Baum.

Warner Boyz Club from Warner Beach will be enteringJosh Smit, Mikey Venter, Gary Van Weirengen, Frankie Oberholzer and Chanelle Botha. Northswell Surf Club from Dairy Beach in Durban has Brandon Jackson, Chad du Toit, Davey Van Zyl and Chris Frolich with Nicole Pallet. North Coast Boardriders from Salt Rock will present Jaco Kapp, Richard Kidd, Allan Johns and Bevan Willis with Sophie Bell as their girl surfer.

Host Club and fierce rivals Wave Wizards will be putting a strong team together including Beyrick de Vries, Dan Redman, Chris Leppan, Shane Sykes, and Teal Hogg.

Chairman of Wave Wizards Club Jestyn Viljoen said, "Surfers get really passionate about their clubs and it is very entertaining to see how serious they get in shouting for their team mates out in the water to catch a wave. Beach Goers will definitely see a different side to surfing. We are thrilled with the number of entries we have had so far."
