South African Women Forte Supports Action in Autism
Each year as part of the South African Women Forte (SAWF) social responsibility, they have adopt deserving establishments and host amazing events, aimed at raising much-needed funds for local charities. In the past, SAWF assisted the KZN Children's Hospital with funding for infrastructure developments.
As part of their main fundraising event, SAWF hosts on going projects for the senior citizens of needy communities, with care packs for family welfare organisations, food or snack packs for outreach programs and the collection and setting up of educational resources for under resourced educational establishments.
"Our major fundraising charity this year is in favour of Action in Autism," said SAWF president Kalai Pillay, "We have committed to assisting this worthy organisation in the development of their therapy and assessment wing."
Action in Autism's mission is to serve the community of autistic people and their families. Included in its Master Plan is the development of a Therapy and Assessment wing at the organisation's headquarters in Parkhill. This project is already in operation.
The patrons of SAWF gave their support to this worthy initiative last Friday. The theme for this year's Annual Fundraising Dinner was 'Masquerade in black and white', and was held at the Coastlands Hotel in Umhlanga. The evening was hosted by the very funny and highly entertaining South African actress Krijay Govender, who had everyone in stitches of laughter and reaching for their wallets.
An auction of paintings and a raffle was held and an undisclosed amount of money was collected, which will be used to build a new therapy and assessment wing at the Action in Autism headquarters.
