MINI, The Big Squeeze & Durban North College

It all started with a brainstorming session at SMG Rocks, the fun exciting and inspiring MINI dealership in Lighthouse Road, Umhlanga Rocks.

The marketing team took their inspiration from one of the worlds greatest marketing Gurus, Richard Branson, when they came up with the idea to squeeze as many people into one car. You can almost follow the thinking of how they came upon the idea of getting MINI people to fill the car, and so the idea to involve schools evolved. The added benefit was that the schools would win the prize and it would be a 'win win' situation, something that MINI is very familiar with.

Kids just love to have fun and MINI is all about fun, although their cars are serious contenders when it comes to safety and performance, the brand embraces the lighter side of life, being youthful and exuberant.

Clairice Budler, Customer Relations Manager at SMG Rocks said, "We got 7 schools to participate in our MINI ingenuity. They really did test the bodies and minds of young and old, yes old as a few staff members joined in."

After the winner was announced Clairice added, "Who knew we humans were so nimble and secret contortionists. We travelled as far as Kloof and as close as Durban North College but in the end there is only one winner and Durban North College managed with great effort and real amazement to fit 37 little MINIons into our 5 door MINI. Smiles were contagious and everyone couldn't help but beam. We rewarded them with R5000 towards anything they deemed fit. Also we donated a gorgeous fun brightly coloured jungle gym to them, which is going to be utilized within the school. SMG definitely ROCKS."
