KW Red Day renovates Safe Haven for Children & Elders
This year, Keller Williams went to the aid of Safe Haven for Children & Elders, the home of Rose & Cyril Zwane outside Stanger. They are a registered NPO and have taken in children that Rose started feeding at a rubbish dump.
She brought them home one by one and slowly more and more orphans were taken in from the area and given new hope for survival.
The children sleep on mattresses strewn all over the house at night - including the kitchen. Two of the children are mentally disabled and one little girl is blind. They also care for destitute elderly.
"The Team will also took the kids on an outing to Animal and bought the kids each a nice new tracksuit top. We taught the residents how to fix up the veggie garden and helpd them to learn about compost and how to rejuvenate plants", said Beverley Gaul, organizer and Market Centre Administrator for Keller Williams Realty.
"We also arranged a little kiddies fun party and helped the kids to make Thank You's for our generous sponsors", she said.
Keller Williams provided everyone with a breyani, hotdog and pancake lunch and SASKO sent 200 rolls with their Show Truck for some fanfare.
"RED Day isn't about cleaning up a park. It is a one-day expression of what happens 24/7 in the Keller Williams culture. It is seeing a need, discovering who can meet that need and then getting it done. Projects are chosen by each individual market center based on a need they see within its community. It's an entrenched part of our culture and displays the extraordinary effect a company can have when individuals come together to work as a team for the greater good of everyone", says Dina Porteous, Operating Principal KW Realty Ignite.
"Whether it's serving each other, serving our communities or serving our planet, a culture of doing more than just selling real estate defines us as a company," she concluded.
