The Spirited Suzuki Swift - A Joy to Drive

The Spirited Suzuki Swift - A Joy to Drive

Every so often, a car comes along that reminds me why I love driving. The Suzuki Swift is one of those cars. I recently test drove the automatic derivative fitted with a CVT gearbox, and from the moment I set off, I knew this was going to be fun. The Swift doesn't pretend to be something it isn't - instead, it thrives on simplicity and massive spirit.

What impressed me most is how the engine revs enthusiastically, delivering more than enough zest to keep you smiling as you gather speed. Paired with the CVT, it offers a smooth and relaxed drive, especially in stop-and-go traffic. The Swift is also available in manual, and that option will appeal to drivers who want a little more engagement.

The real winner, however, is its practicality. I managed around 4.9 litres per 100 km, which is exceptional in today's world of climbing fuel costs. Add in Suzuki's solid 5-year/200,000 km warranty and 2-year/30,000 km service plan, and suddenly it's clear why the Swift remains one of the most popular hatchbacks on South African roads.

It's affordable, reliable, and above all it is a joy to drive. If you're ready to experience the Swift spirit for yourself, CMH Suzuki Ballito is the place to start. Take it for a test drive and see why this little hatchback has captured so many hearts.
