Date: 2017-01-27
KwaDukuza Mayor Ricardo Mthembu convened a special stakeholder appreciation engagement where he used the podium to commend role-players in law enforcement and emergency services for theirenduringdedication and commitment to public.

"We pay tribute to the men and women who work under difficult conditions to ensure that there is stability in our communities. These officials make life-threatening sacrifices, which go unseen to the world. Therefore, as Council, we do feel the sense of indebtedness to these agencies for their sacrifices and dedication to peace and stability. Unity and cooperation will always rest at the center of our strength if we are to win the fight against crime", said Mayor Mthembu.

Mthembu expressed the necessity for peace and stability in order to attract more investors to participate in the local economy.

"KwaDukuza is an area of investment, it cannot become a breeding ground for violent crimes and no one would want to invest in an economy that is owned by criminals".

KwaDukuza is the economic capital of iLembe and sits in-between eThekwini and uMhlathuze Corridor which are two of the major economies in the province.

Mthembu unreservedly emphasized peace, stability and wellness as one of the most important responsibilities of these agencies, describing unity as their center of strength as he showered them with accolades.

"It is now evident that through our partnerships, we are turning the tide against violent crimes and drinking and driving due to the reported statistics following the festive season. I have said time and again that we have placed a high priority on domestic violence and violent crimes. The partnerships in law enforcement agencies holds true of this".

He said that we need to mobilize communities to ensure that there is no space for criminality in our community.

"We are in a democracy; we need public officials who have patriotic pride, dedication and commitment to the creation of safe and secure environments", said Mthembu.
