Meet My New Hero - Mazda BT50

Meet My New Hero - Mazda BT50

Author: Tomas Yoko
Date: 2015-10-02
Standing proud and sturdy on my sidewalk, the Mazda BT-50 represented itself with an element of pride. The high wheel arches and the large 17 inch mag wheels gave the impression of confident ability. I wanted to drive it right away.

I climbed into the cab and immediately liked the surroundings. The appointment of the BT-50 interior was more like a saloon car than a bakkie. Besides the really comfortable seats and cavernous space, the BT-50 had every mod-con I could wish for. The Bluetooth connected without any fuss and the AM/FM radio with MP3 compatible CD player was controllable using the steering wheel mounted audio controls. I could opt for the Bluetooth voice control as well but I am not that much of a Yuppy, however the USB and iPod connectivity had me jamming my own tunes in the cab while the cruise control handled my speed for me. I was loving it, and I had not even left the road yet.

The new BT-50 is termed by Mazda as an Active Lifestyle Vehicle and I could not wait for the weekend for a chance to take it off the tar. In the meantime I took the Mazda brand payoff line, Zoom-Zoom, to task and was very impressed with the twin calliper disc brakes that gave me sharp braking after the powerful Zoom-Zoom engine had thrust me up to speed.

All in all I was impressed with the Mazda BT-5o and even more so when I discovered that they are backed by a 4 year or 120 000km Warranty, whichever comes first, a 3-year Unlimited Roadside Assistance Plan and a Service Plan that covers scheduled services for 5 years or 90 000km. On top of the service plan is the Mazda 4 years or 120 000km warranty, giving you complete coverage.

For a chance to test-drive the amazing Mazda BT-50 bakkie, contact CMH Mazda Umhlanga on 031 502 5565 or visit their showroom at 89 Flanders Drive, Mount Edgecombe.
