Reinvention; the flipside of disruptive change

Life is a journey. When we stop, things don't go right. Therefore the constant change can explain many things, for example an undeveloped vision of our purpose and our path.

We are all struggling with readapting into the normal flow of life after the long, dark Covid. The effects of the pandemic panic have caused massive changes to our daily lives, changes that have often happened rapidly and abruptly. Life adjustments often come with a wide range of experiences and emotions. Sometimes that transition can feel smooth and other times that journey to the new normal is choppy or downright bumpy!

This devastating pandemic has severely disrupted global supply and consumption, forcing and in most cases permitting people to unlearn old habits and adapt new ones. A study on habit formation suggests that the average time for a new habit to form is 66 days, with a minimum of 21 days. Most of us have significantly changed our habits with overwhelming affects.

The pandemic has forced many people to re-evaluate their relationship to work and the central role it plays in our lives and identities. For many, the shift to working from home provided the space and time needed to make those big life-changing decisions.

The change that has taken place is now our new normal. Work, home, and social life have all been altered, and it's something a lot of people are having trouble adapting, others are thriving. Mental health needs are definitely impacted by our situation. And what that is doing is bringing different mental health needs to the fore. It shows what an overwhelming time this is for all.

No matter what; we have to be kind to ourselves, be patient with ourselves and kind to each other. And recognise that we might never be able to adapt to the "New Normal". Our mission is not merely survive the crisis but also to thrive in the postcrisis world.

Reinvention is the flipside of disruptive change, lets reinvent ourselves and thrive in the "new normal", with whatever makes us happy! Blessings.
