KZN Sharks Board Schools Marine Week Success

KZN Sharks Board Schools Marine Week Success

Date: 2016-10-28
The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board together with various stakeholders including the Durban Natural Science Museum, uShaka Marine World, South African Weather Service, Umgeni Water, Durban Solid waste, SA Navy and more, held the KZN Sharks Board Marine Week event at the KZNSB Heard Quarters in Umhlanga.

The event was very well attended and served to highlight the importance of our oceans for our survival. Learners from all around the country were given first hand experience of how the oceans that cover over 70% of the planet, generate most of the oxygen that people and other animals breathe, how they regulate the climate, clean the water that we drink, facilitate global trade, which is dominated by sea transport, and so much more that the oceans give to human life, they are worth celebrating and they deserve to be taken care of.

The event was used as a platform to give advice to learners on different careers in the marine field. The more young people become aware and involved in the marine related careers, the more the oceans will be taken care of. With over 23 organisations exhibiting at the event it proved to be an excellent opportunity to provide valuable information on the various career paths available on their perspective fields.

Well done to the KZN Sharks Board.
