Carlo Guzzi, Giovanni Ravelli and Giorgio Parodi had formulated an idea to produce motorcycles for Italy after the war. Sad news came to carlo and Giorgio when Giovanni Ravelli was killed in an airplane crash, just days after the war was declared over.
Giorgio Parodi's father was a wealthy Genovese ship owner and he had agreed to loan the trio two thousand Lira for the express purposes stated in the articles of incorporation declared by the company, namely ) "the manufacture and the sale of motor cycles and any other activity in relation to or connected to metallurgical and mechanical industry".
After the death of Giovani, Giorgio's brother got involved and it was decided that the wings of an Eagle would symbolize their lost partner and friend. The first bikes were labeled Guzzi-Parodi, with their base in Genoa and headquarters in Mandello. They did things with such style and grandeur in those days.
Now East Coast Motorcycles carries the heritage of Moto Guzzi and their latest model to arrive on their showroom floor is the California 1400. You will know the earlier version of this bike from CHIPS, one of the California Highway Patrol's favorite bikes.
