Test Flying The Mercedes-Benz GLS 63 AMG

Test Flying The Mercedes-Benz GLS 63 AMG

There is a limit to what we can do as human beings, however it seems that nobody told the manufacturers at Mercedes-Benz's car plant.

I recently test drove the incredible hulk of an SUV from Mercedes-Bens, and I must have had a smile on my face from the moment I landed in the driver's seat until the petrol gauge forced me to pull over.

Truth be told, the GLS 63 AMG was not that heavy on fuel, even with its 430 kilowatt engine and massive 760 Newton meters of torque. Supplied figures settled in at 12,3 litres per hundred kilometres.

The N3 was the perfect playground to take the GLS through its paces and the technological advancements and driver assistance programs just added to the sublime pleasure that driving this icon turned out to be.

I was in awe of the Steering Assist button on the dash and could not stop putting it to the test, a test that it passed with flying colours.

The GLS is equipped with Mercede-Benz's AMG DYNAMIC SELECT transmission selection system that offered five modes. Slippery, Individual, Comfort, Sport and Sport +.

In Sport + mode my smile just got bigger, until I could almost lift the top of my head right off.
