OSA Restaurant - the best KZN has to offer

OSA Restaurant - the best KZN has to offer

There is something magical about the OSA restaurant venue at the Fairmont Zimbali Resort. The polished décor, the high ceilings, the gloss finish and the sweet Ocean scent somehow adds flavour to your meal.

Our recent experience was a true testament to the fact that fine dining does not have to be uptight or flat, it can in fact be a whole lot of taste and at OSA it does have a soulful essence.

OSA Restaurant's Chef Constantijn Hahndiek has travel extensively and spent many years learning various culinary techniques, which he now applies to the uncomplicated OSA menu.

"I started my culinary journey working at Café BonBon in the magical setting on a Franschoek farm at La Petite Dauphine." Chef Constantijn Hahndiek told me in between the courses of spiced aubergine and a medley of wild mushroom, "The owner of La Petite Dauphine, Kathy, believed in my talent and paid for me to go to the UK to gain experience."

Chef Constantijn Hahndiek landed in a marvelous, classic hotel steeped in history in Devon, which at the time held two Rosettes. It was here that he honed his passion for traditional, classic menus, which he has now adapted to suit our South African palates.

Chef Constantijn Hahndiek speaks of sustainable produce and believes that a meal should be made from scratchhe boasted about and introduced me to his young team of helpers. "Our advantage is that we are young ambitious chefs and we are not scared to experiment." He told me.

"I feel that the relaxed environment at OSA will allow the patrons to sit back and enjoy the real flavours." While on so many levels OSA Restaurant ticked so many boxes for me, the low lighting, the palate cleansers, the unpretentious yet diligent service from Siyanda, even Frank Sinatra fitted the occasion.

OSA Restaurant umami is simply scrumptious. It embraces sincere richness of flavours without being pretentious. But I recommend that you really must try it for yourself. To book call 032 5385000 or email zim.dining@fairmont.com
