Umhlanga College Pre-School illustrate the gift of giving to the children at Khazimula Child & Youth Care Centre
Santa's little elves were hard at work during November this year. The 150 pre-school children at Umhlanga College chose to support the Adopt A Bed - Make A Bed project, initiated by DSA Pays It Forward (an American non profit organization).
"Adopt A Bed's" goal was to provide each of the 30 children at Khazimula with two sets of linen for their bed. Umhlanga College Pre-Schoolers' Christmas project this year involved putting together essential items needed to make a bed - they provided a pillow and pillow protector, mattress protector and duvet cover set for each of the 30 beds. In addition, they also gave each child a towel, toiletry bag and a Christmas present.
Many hands make light work. DSA Pays It Forward funded the purchasing of a duvet inner for each bed, the Rotary Club of Pima (Tucson, Arizona) sent sheet sets for each bed, and various individuals both in South Africa, Tucson and California gave duvet cover sets and sheets. The children at Khazimula will be having sweet dreams this Christmas, and many nights of peaceful sleep!
