Jonathan Pike appointed The International Hotel School's Durban Campus School Marketer!

Date: 2014-10-10
Jonathan Pike (23) has been newly appointed as The International Hotel School's Durban Campus School Marketer.

After matriculating from Glenwood High School, this Durban North resident went on to graduate from The International Hotel School in with a Diploma in Hospitality Management.

Pike sees himself as being enthusiastic and ambitious, having already gained work experience at a number of institutions. He completed his Work Integrated Learning (practical) at the Royal Palm Hotel and the Oyster Box Hotel. He was hired by Match Hospitality to run VIP lounges in the 2010 Soccer World Cup, as well as held the position of Server Captain of the Steak House Restaurant at the Boca West Country Club in Florida.

In the past two years, Pike has gained more managerial experience from holding positions such as manager for Boulevard Restaurant and Nightclub on Florida Road and Restaurant Manager for Czar Restaurant and Upstairs Lounge Bar from February 2012 to June 2012 and most recently, Bell Captain (Room Service) of The Yachts Of Seabourn from December 2012 until July 2014.

For others wanting to get into the Hospitality Industry, Pike's advice is, "Always be professional. Don't be scared of travelling abroad and experience all that it has to offer."

Pike says that he owes a lot of thanks to The international Hotel School, as they offered him the opportunity to work in leading establishments and showed him that he was capable of making a positive reputation for himself within the industry.

For him, success comes from being a leader, not a follower. "Constantly take a good look at yourself and strive to be better," he says.
