Executive Chef Scott Sheppard stumbled into the culinary world after his personal fitness career did not work out for him. Known for his innovative cuisine, his cooking is uncomplicated, but full of exciting flavours fused with authentic African and European influences. Chef Sheppard was inspired by his best friend who was avid food lover, perfecting his craft, Chef Sheppard worked in some of the United Kingdom's leading hotel restaurants, rubbing shoulders, sometimes literally, with Europe's most renowned chefs, before finding his way back to South Africa.

In 2010, Chef Sheppard's dream of working in a fine dining venue came true when he secured a position at the Beverley Hills Hotel in Umhlanga. Chef Sheppard was instrumental in changing the perception of dining out, demonstrating that accomplished cooking does not always demand a heavy price tag.

Chef Sheppard's culinary expertise is built around a passion to showcase the freshest ingredients through simple but beautiful dishes that reflect both culinary traditions and his own creativity. Chef Sheppard's five-year stint in the UK instilled in him a greater appreciation for ingredients in their pure and organic state. His culinary roots stem from training under the best names and working for the finest hotel restaurants in the business.

Chef Sheppard has many dreams that he wishes to fulfil in the near future. One of them is to create a five star dining experience at the newly launched Cosmopolitan Restaurant in the new Urban Park Hotel in Umhlanga, opposite Porsche. Here Chef Sheppard will continue to offer expertly prepared food of the highest quality.
