Celebrate the National Italian Republic Day with Baroque 2000

Celebrate the National Italian Republic Day with Baroque 2000

Date: 2019-05-31

Baroque 2000 will perform its 3d concert of the Season at the Church of the Mariannhill Monastery on Sunday 2 June, 11h30. This concert will be presented in a special format with a large video screen projecting pictures of famous and stunning Italian baroque buildings and monuments.

This event will be in celebration of the National Italian Republic Day. Works by Giovanni Benedetto Platti and Alessandro Stradella will be performed. The harpsichord magician Erik Dippenaar will be back from Cape Town and will perform the Sonata in C minor by Domenico Scarlatti and Margrit Deppe will be the soloist in the Concerto for oboe in D minor by Tomaso Albinoni.

The concert will end with the sparkling Concerto in F major RV 569 "per molti instrumenti" (for many instruments) by Antonio Vivaldi featuring a violin solo, two oboes and 2 French horns. Tickets will sell at the door @ R150. There is ample and safe parking and the Monastery Tea Garden will be open for refreshments and light lunches.
