There was an atmosphere of sheer excitement and delight at the Chief Albert Luthuli Skills Centre in KwaDukuza on Monday when the 250 graduates celebrated their achievement of a 100% competency result by its first intake of students.

The R13-million Chief Albert Luthuli Skills Centre was established in February this year, through strategic partnership between the Sibaya Community Trust, which was a principle funder, KwaDukuza Municipality and Certified Workforce Trainers

The Chairman of Sibaya Vivian Reddy, said, "It is an auspicious milestones that we celebrate the successful graduation of the first 250 students from Chief Albert Luthuli Skills Centre. In its first year, the center has successfully achieved its objective of providing high quality training, which is relevant, effective and accelerates employment."

Speaking at this auspicious event, Deputy Mayor of KwaDukuza, Dolly Govender saying, "Vivian Reddy has invested seven million rand into this initiative and we want to thank you." Said Dolly, "Today, 250 students are getting their certificates and are able to embark on a better life because, let us be honest, without higher education you are nothing. We thank Vivian Reddy for all that he is doing for the people of Kwadukuza." Concluded Dolly.

Albert Luthuli's granddaughter, Albertina Luthuli was there to sing the praises of Reddy's commitment to empowerment of young people in her speech she said, "This is an important day in my life. My father would be very proud of all of you here and wherever he is, and I know he is in heaven, he is overjoyed."

Albertina thanked Vivian Reddy for his continued contribution saying, "Thanks to you and to your trust, you are always a step ahead in advancing community development, which is great!"

"We need more Vivian Reddy's, he is a hero. He is a living somebody to emulate." Concluded Albertina.

The training center programs include formal training and workplace experience, formative and summative assessments, internal and moderation by the relevant SETA's, including MerSeta, MICT Seta and CETA Seta.

The Sibaya Community Trust is showing us the way to a prosperous future having invested more than R43 million in the Ilembe region and R150 million in community social investment projects in KZN.
