Come sailing this Sunday

Date: 2013-11-22
The second of the Offshore Series hosted by the Royal Natal Yacht Club will be taking place onSunday 24 Novemberwhere Durban sailors hope to enjoy fine conditions offshore of Durban.

In recent weeks for the scheduled racing during the Summer Sailing Season, the local yachties have been battered with rather inclement weather. The first of the run in the Offshore Series was confined to the harbour due to the extreme conditions offshore. Only five yachts braved the foul weather.

"We are hoping for a few more guys to come down. The numbers of competitors at the Twilight Sailing on Wednesday's have picked up nicely and the guys are loving being back on the water, so in theory we should see a magnificent fleet on the water." an eager Rear Commodore for the Royal Natal Yacht Club, Rob Samways said.

Samways continued, "We are looking to send them off on a nice long run, depending on the weather we will either send them north to Umhlanga and back or south to Cooper's lighthouse. It will be the first 'There-and-Back' race of the season and getting into the festive season, the boats will enjoy a good sleigh ride in one of the directions."

The second in the Royal Natal Yacht Club offshore series this Sunday will also count towards the PYC Sigma Series.

Durban yachtsmen are holding thumbs for great weather for the upcoming Offshore Series hosted by the Royal Natal Yacht Club.
