La Plage S.A. Records presents: CafÈ La Plage
Perhaps the most exciting development on the music and dining scene in Umhlanga is the announcement from La Plage S.A. records about the opening of their world-class music and dining venue CafÈ La Plage, at The Pearls Walk Shopping Centre in Umhlanga.
In a move that is set to rival the likes of the music cafÈ; CafÈ Del Mar, CafÈ La Plage has lined up a dining experience with music extravaganza of a first world superiority. The five star Afro-French influenced cuisine from the Chef's Jonathan Sayman and Byron du Bois will be complimented by the in house bakery, butchery and for the music lover in you, a complete recording studio.
Complete with valet parking and sophisticated interior styling, CafÈ La Plage looks set to take Durban by storm. Live performances, breakfast, lunch and dinner and being served by some of the performers, are some of the elements of intrigue that you can look forward to at CafÈ La Plage. Twice a week there will be big shows with headline acts featuring local and international stars. Besides providing a platform for local artists to gain experience and grow in the industry, they will also be recording and releasing CafÈ La Plage albums and CD's for your private listening pleasure.
Byron and Jonathan are two energetic chefs that will be cooking up a storm at the new CafÈ La Plage restaurant, which is opening up at The Pearls in October.
Byron was born in Durban and has spent last three running his own artisan bakery in Umhlanga. Prior to that Byron worked the Middle East working in five star hotels in Dubai, Qatar and Abu Dabi.
Jonathan was born in Johannesburg but has spent the last three years in Durban working with Andrew Draper at Harvey's. Jonathan also spent a year on the exotic and remote Pemba Island in Zanzibar. He enjoys experimenting with spices, seafood and locally sourced ingredients.
Together they created Classic French Menu with a modern twist. Their signature dish is a Trio of Beef is a beautiful combination of Slow Braised Short Rib, Beef fillet and Roasted Bone Marrow accompanied by Smoked Garlic Pomme Puree, Squash Ratatouille, and Smoked Bone Marrow Jus.
This dynamic duo are set to get the KZN culinary world on flame with their locally sourced ingredients, finest, freshest produce and liveliest cuisine this side of the Indian Ocean.
