2 And 4 For Ford
The team had to contend with their fair share of problems at the final round, with torrential downpours and an errant stone hampering the team's performance. In the opening heat Duminy claimed fourth place with Formato following home in fifth, but as they lined up for the day's second heat the team discovered that a stone had gone through the oil cooler in Duminy's car, damaging the engine.
"It's a pity as we were first on the grid for the second heat and looking as though we'd be able to secure third in the championship," explained Duminy.
Formato went on to take third place and then relinquished his car to Duminy for the last heat in the hopes that Duminy would have a final chance at the third place championship finish. The team worked hard to ready the car for the final heat however it was not to be with the afternoon's heavy rains causing a misfire and forcing Duminy into retirement.
"It's disappointing, but that's racing for you," added Duminy. "There is plenty to look forward to next season and that is where our focus now lies."
Teammate Formato was similarly optimistic about the future; "We've had five good years of racing from these cars. In that time we've always finished in the top three in the championship having taken two championship titles, finished in the runner-up spot twice and having claimed third once. We're now looking forward to a new chapter, and are excited to see how the all-new Focus ST will perform on the track next year."
"As we look ahead to next season I'd like to take a moment to reflect on the tremendous dedication and effort of everyone involved in the past season. We couldn't have done it without our amazing team and the on-going support of Ford and our sponsors BP, Castrol, 888 Performance and Leda Panel Beaters," concluded Formato.
