Business Ambassadors For The City

Business Ambassadors For The City

Date: 2014-03-07
The Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the support of the eThekwini Municipality, has launched a programme, which will see a number of local business leaders being appointed as Durban City Ambassadors.

The Ambassadors will be business people who are active in business communities outside of the city and province by virtue of their companies' international, or inter-provincial, business relationships.

The CEO of the Chamber, Andrew Layman, explained "business people are thought to be the ones most likely to spread effectively the good news about Durban's business and investment climate.

Companies that do good business in Durban and present a positive view of the business environment are able to convince their counterparts elsewhere that our city is a locality worth considering - for new greenfield investment, for expansion and even for head office relocation."

The appointment of Ambassadors will not be confined to business people within the Chamber's membership and will reflect the demographics of the Durban business community.   The selected Ambassadors will carry business cards, which reflect their status, and be briefed constantly about the City's facilities and receptiveness to investment.

The selection of Ambassadors will be done following a process during which individuals may volunteer or nominate a person who, in their minds, fits the bill. Communication should be with Andrew Layman (andrewlayman@durbanchamber.co.za) or Dumile Cele (celed@durbanchamber.co.za.)
