Appeal for Support for Hospice

Appeal for Support for Hospice

Date: 2019-07-05

Saturday night's glittering Hospice Ball in Umhlatuzana confirmed its place as Chatsworth's social event of the year. Organised by volunteers of the Chatsworth Regional Hospice Association, the event raised close to R200000.

"Our facility receives no funding from the state yet demand for hospice services is growing everyday,"said event coordinator Runga Kanny. Businesses and individuals from across the Province bought tables and pledged financial support for the organisation, which needs at least R250000 a month to be functional.

Kanny added that they were grateful for the ongoing support including the monthly donations by debit order but their need was fairly desperate. The 300 guests relished the joy of giving while bringing a sizzle to the dance floor.

The chilly evening saw everything from the salsa to line dancing as local band Main Ingredients belted out old favourites. Event MC Kiru Naidoo said that in the fashion stakes the Hospice Ball easily rivalled this Saturday's Durban July.

"The ballgowns and party dresses added real pizzazz to yet another memorable evening." Naidoo added his voice to the appeal for more businesses and individuals to get involved saying that one never know when one's family member might need Hospice services.

Volunteers or donors keen to get involved in the work of the Hospice can reach Kanny on 084 2211 955 or visit their offices at Strelitzia Road in Silverglen.
