Rest in Peace Wim Sak

Rest in Peace Wim Sak

Author: Kasia Yoko
Date: 2021-09-22

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we bid farewell to our good friend and local businessman Wim Sak, who passed away on 14 September after a lengthy illness.

Wim arrived in South Africa around 15 years ago from Belgium with his beautiful wife Olivia, they were to develop what was then sugar farms, into a new residential township of Palm Lakes, just north of Ballito.

Wim often told me how he fell in love with the North Coast, likening it to the French Riviera. Wim who had a long career in the sweet industry in Belgium was a true statesman, he was sighted as one of the youngest CEOÕs in Europe at one of the top three sweet companies, Astra Sweets. He knew the European corporate world and soon was thriving in the South African property industry.

Wim had many endearing qualities that earned him a multitude of friends, supporters and investors, he was a people's person and his generosity was known to everyone who knew him.

Wim enjoyed a happy childhood and was a successful ice hockey player, even playing for the national team. After studying electro mechanical engineering, Wim spent a mandatory year in the Belgian army.

Wim will always be remembered for his infectious laugh, his love for his family, and his business accruements.

Wim will be dearly missed by all those who love him and knew him. Rest in peace Wim Sak our hearts are broken as we bid you farewell. Until we meet again on the other side of the rainbow.
