KwaDukuzaMunicipality held a one day Faith Based Organisation Summit on Tuesday,07 June2018 whichproved to be a resounding success as religious leaders deliberatedon the various topics that were up fordiscussion during the summit.
Unityproved to be the common cause of discussion for the summit in the light thatmuch more can be done inthe upliftment of peoples lives in KwaDukuza. To whichwas the sentiment of the Guest Speaker of the SummitChief Whip, Councillor DumisaniNdimande.
Religiousleaders sought to have a more direct involvement in municipal structures havinga Religious Desk inthe municipality was one of the suggestions. As to have abetter flow of information to the religious sector withissues pertaining toservice delivery thus if residents take to the streets to demonstrate religiousleaders can bea voice of reason and ease tensions if the situation calls forit.
Religiousleaders affirmed their support and commitment to carry on and fight the scourgeof social ills thataffect their respective communities by working togetherwith the municipality and different stakeholders. Toenhance communitydevelopment through social cohesion, unity, moral regeneration, local economicdevelopment and eradicate gender based violence.
In absentia, the Mayor of KwaDukuza Councillor Ricardo Mthembu,expressed joy that the summit wassuccessful and has promised that he will seeto the resolutions of the summit. "KwaDukuza Municipalityremains committed toworking with all sectors of society. Our relationship with the Faith BasedOrganisations isbarring fruit, we are seeing it happen most of the social illsthat were engulfing our town have decreased.Indeed working together we can domore."
