Leila Spangenberg is a 17 year old aspiring singer and model from Ballito who was scouted to perform at the Applause Rising Talent Showcase in Orlando, Florida from 23 - 29 July 2018.

Every Eisteddfod, school concert, music showcase and performance helped to prepare her for the moment when she will step onto the international stage to represent South Africa.

Leila is not new to performing. She is part of the worship team in her church and she is currently doing her Gr7 Trinity College London, Rock and Pop vocal voice and received her full colours for voice. She was also rewarded the "Soloist" trophy at her school and has been selected as a Finalist in the Super Naweek Jong Supersterre Competition that will take place on 23 June at the Blythedale Event Bowl.

Leila has been modelling since she was a little girl and has participated in many fashion shows, photoshoots and pageants. She is currently signed by Just You Model and Artist Management.

She realized that her dream to be on an international stage can become a reality when she auditioned in the Summer Heat model and talent search regionals and went through to the nationals where she ended in the Top 5 for singing. She was then scouted to perform as an elite artist at Mzansi Arts at the Playhouse in Durban where she was scouted by the Director of Just You Model and Artist Management, Elsubie Verlinden, to perform at the International Arts Talent Showcase held in October 2017 at the Silverstar Casino, The best of the 9 provinces got together to show their performance abilities to international talent scouts. It wass an opportunity for talented South Africans to be chosen to represent the country at the Showcase in Orlando, Florida.

After the two elite gala events she was fortunate enough to get a "Call Back" from talent scout and the Executive Director of ARTS, Kim Myers from America. This is where she received the invitation to go to New York to attend ARTS and perform on the Walt Disney stage. She also received a "Call Back" from the Director of the New York Film Academy to audition for a partial scholarship to study at the New York Film Academy. During that period she also attended a Music Business Workshop with American music producer , Nate Butler as well as Blaze Johnson from The Voice America,

The Applause Rising Talent Showcase is designed to educate and safely showcase the best and brightest new models, actors, singers and dancers to the top Agents, Managers and Casting Directors. ARTS contestants get to meet, learn from, perform for and interview with talent scouts from major markets all over the country, like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and Miami. Many novel performers have launched national and international careers following ARTS. Contestants are competing for trophies, prizes, modelling contracts, acting/performance opportunities with leading agencies and casting directors in attendance.

Leila can be seen performing at The Market at Lifestyle on a regular basis and she will also perform at the Open Mic this Thursday from 6pm.
