Book Launch of The Cure

Book Launch of The Cure

Author: Yosheen L. Govender
Date: 2013-10-04
A beautiful Spring evening. A spectacular novel. A passionate author and a cozy book store. Certainly the perfect combination for a superb book launch! The Cure by Dr Morad Zaffron was launched at Books and Books in Durban North on Thursday, 26 September 2013. Friends, family and fans gathered at the store to celebrate Morad's first novel and quiz the author on characters, settings and themes from The Cure. A medical doctor by profession with a Masters Degree in Creative Writing, Morad's passion for writing was ignited at a young age and fired through motivation from his mother who he paid tribute to during the evening. A lover of music, Morad's introductory video on his life story was centered on "Same Love" by Macklemore, which he says "gives him goose bumps every time he listens to it."

The Cure is a mix of various elements - from crime thriller to medical drama to romance and conspiracy. Set in New York and Washington, the protagonists Dr Susan Connor and Dr Vincent Bach are implicated in contemptible activities of a global drug company. Framed and hounded by the NYPD, FBI and hired assassins, the two heroes, each with their own demons, combine forces to overthrow the despicable corporation that threatens to bring impending doom to the existence of humankind. Highly descriptive scenarios set the stage within the mind of the reader and mystery, action and a heightened sense of expectation make this a riveting read.

Morad's love for literature and his appreciation to all who made his dream come to life was clear cut throughout the evening. Supported at the launch by his wife, Shaheda and sons, Nabeel and Yaseen, the charismatic author said he "felt immense relief on completion of his book, because having a family, a career and still nurturing a dream to write a book has got to rank among the most difficult aspirations ever!" No doubt that exhilaration ranks highly next to his relief and with his next novel titled "The Valley" coming soon, we can surely set our sights on another stunning success.
