The second-last concert of Baroque 2000Season will take place on Sunday 26 November, 11:30am, at the Church of theMariannhill Monastery.
9 young and talented musiciansaccompanied by the great Baroque 2000 orchestra will rock the stage byperforming beautiful arias and concerti from the Baroque period. NolwaziNkwanyana (a KZN Philharmonic orchestra Cadet) will perform "La Notte" fluteconcerto by Vivaldi. From the UKZN Opera School, Magugu Duma (soprano) willsing arias from Handel's Giulio Cesare and Zonke Zincume (mezzo-soprano) willperform the famous "Remember me" aria from Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.
JoshuaGriffiths will accompany on the trumpet Dhenishta Chetty (soprano) in Handel'saria " Eternal Source of Light Divine" as well as perform Purcell's trumpetSonata in D major. Dhenishta will join Bjorn Kruger (counter-tenor) in JSBach's majestic duo "Herr dein Mitlied" from the Christmas Oratorio.
Comingfrom Durban Girls College, we will have the participation of Owethu Makaula(soprano) singing the stirring aria "Laschio ch'io Pianga" by Handel. Last butnot least, Amy Luo (violin and leader of the KZN Youth Orchestra) and herbrother Aiden (also violin) will perform the "Concertino" part in Handel'sConcerto Grosso in G.
