End of an Era at the Beverly Hills Hotel
End of an Era at the Beverly Hills Hotel
Date: 2018-08-03
It was a sad winter's afternoon last Thursday on the perfect deck of the elements cafÈ at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The local hoteliers, family and friends of the GM, John de Canha, gathered to say goodbye to the man, a giant in the hospitality industry.
There were some tears shed as we all remembered our friend and legend! The Beverly Hills Hotel first opened its doors in December 1964. It was Sol Kerzner's first luxury hotel, which he named after his daughter, Beverly, and it was the first hotel in KZN to achieve a five star rating.
Mr. de Canha has been at the helm of The Beverly Hills Hotel for seven years, welcoming royalty, sporting stars, Hollywood celebrities and heads of state. He has shown everyone the same level of respect and professionalism. John has made friends with each and every guest he met in the hotel lobby and he has gone out of his way to make everyone who comes into the hotel a guest for life.
The Bugle wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the service we received each and every time we visited the hotel. Enjoy your golden years in retirement Mr de Canha, and know that you will always have a special place reserved in our hearts. We are so privileged to have had the opportunity to bid you farewell. Thank you for your mentorship and guidance and all those bubbles! What an honour it has been to be served by you and to be welcomed into your circle of friends.
