Here at Granny Mouse Country House and Spa it is all about relaxation and time out. The luxurious rooms, the warm and friendly reception from the many staff that lovingly takes care of this property is a real treat after the fast paced urban jungle frenzy.
It has been a while since we visited this heavenly kingdom and we were delighted by the transformation. Beside the most exquisite flowering gardens bursting with spring and the expansive vista views, Granny Mouse has been given a fabulous refurbish.
The new General Manager, Sean Granger who hails from Franschoek has added a marvellous sense of pride and ease to this property. His staff are friendly but not overly intrusive and you genuinely feel like you are a part of the family here.
There are many advantages to spending your next weekend or even next holiday at Granny Mouse, not only is it just one and half hours from Durban, it is also totally children friendly. Children here are considered as important as their adult counterparts and the GM has gone to great lengths to ensure that they feel like rightful guests at Granny Mouse.
There is very little that you would need once you arrive. There are two fabulous restaurants, one is a fine dining without the frills venue, and the other is a perfectly relaxed Bistro restaurant that serves everyone's favourite dishes. Their menu is intended to be combined with their extensive wine list and craft beers. It was a real treat being served by Noxolo at Eaves Restaurant.
We loved the breakfast, which offers a scrumptious buffet and all the trimmings in their a la carte selection. Locally sourced cheeses and cured hams are served with home made breads, sweet bakes and an abundance of fresh fruit and yoghurt.
One of my personal best extensions to the Granny Mouse Country House is the Spa. Oh gosh it is heavenly. The scent of the perfumes from the aromatic gardens and the chirping of the birds outside are the only distractions here. Our therapists Samke and Pillile were real professionals and allowed us to unwind that much further.
There are many more wonders to discover at Granny Mouse Country House and Spa, which by the way is the perfect place to explore the Midlands Meander from, but you will have to go and find them out for yourself. It's as easy as visiting their website https://www.grannymouse.co.za or calling them on 033 - 234 4071.
