From Gorgeous to Flauwless with John Staychev

He is smart, he is funny and he has a great way with people, he will make you feel like a princess on Prom Night. Trust me, he knows how to spin that flattery yarn and he is not ashamed to do it.

I am talking about John Staychev from Lewis and Staychev Style Bar in Windermere Road.

"Look around you," John told me on my first visit to his sunning art deco house, converted into an open plan hairdressing and makeup studio, "You see I give my clients everything, Skin Makeup, Hair, Nails using the best products on the planet."

I believed him.

John had done a great job on me the previous weekend and trust me if he can work with my tired and sorry state, he can do it for anyone.

While we were sipping on our lemon waters, soaking up the ambiance, a group of ladies with small children were enjoying their cappuccinos. Soon platters of dainty Falafel balls were making their rounds on the cool wraparound veranda. "I have tried to create a European style environment for my customers." John explained.

I loved it.

The restaurant is another aspect of John's place altogether. The Middle Eastern cuisine is authentic and generous, platters of home made humus, a recipe John swears was passed down from an ancient Jordanian culinary master, plates of Shukshuka, Lafa and traditional Middle Eastern naan bread wraps filled with the delights of your choice are just for starters. You just simply have to come and see for yourself and explore the selection of mains John has selected. The food here is simply delicious and so fresh, you can't help but love it!

Incredibly there is still something else about Lewis and Staychev Style Studio. It's the vibe, his stylists are sincere and kind with big grins on their faces, there is no sign of the typical sense of drama that hangs over most salons - this is kind and genuine and it feels right.
