Bea Johnson of "Zero Waste Home" fame to talk in Durban

Bea Johnson of "Zero Waste Home" fame to talk in Durban

Date: 2017-04-21

Johnson is 2011 Grand Prize winner of the Green Award, and is author of best-seller "Zero Waste Home" which has been translated into 14 languages. Described as the "priestess of waste-free living" by the New York Times, and as the "Messiah of Ecology" by Paris Match, Johnson teaches us to "own less, waste less and live more".

Currently undertaking a 10 country tour to spread her message about living waste-free, Johnson gives an upbeat, visually-rich and at times humorous presentation. Contrary to fears, Bea is not a "flower-power bohemian burn-out" but a stylish trend-setter who walks her talk about living with as little impact on our natural world as possible.

Food and Trees for Africa (FTFA) is hosting the "Zero Waste Home" event where Bea Johnson will be speaking. FTFA is a social and environmental enterprise aimed at improving lives and landscapes toward healthy people on a healthier planet. To date, FTFA has planted 4.2 million trees, 1000s of permaculture food gardens and organic farms have been planted for poor communities.

Botanic Gardens Visors Centre, 70 St Thomas Rd, Musgrave, Durban on Monday 8th May, 13h30 - 17h00. Bea Johnson who has succeeded in living 'waste free' since 2008 will outline her family's secret to producing a mere jam jar of waste over a 12-month period, using the 5R principles "refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, rot".
