New 3-Cylinder Powerhouse For Opel ADAM
The Opel ADAM is the first of a wave of new Opel vehicles in South Africa to benefit from Opel's all-new, state-of-the-art three-cylinder 1.0-litre ecoFLEX turbocharged petrol engine. Opel's latest engine sets a benchmark for running refinement, low-end torque and efficiency. This new generation powerhouse comes standard with 6-speed manual transmission which is also from a new generation of Opel gearboxes.
ADAM is the first car in the Opel range to receive this new, all-aluminium 1.0-litre ecoFLEX Direct Injection Turbo petrol engine which has been developed at the manufacturer's International Technical Development Centre in RŸsselsheim, Germany. South Africa receives the higher-output 85kW version which delivers strong low-end torque of 170 Nm from just 1 800 rpm. Like Opel's other new generation engines, the new 1.0 ecoFLEX Direct Injection Turbo engine offers benchmark refinement with outstandingly low noise and vibration levels for a three-cylinder motor which are even superior to many four-cylinder units.
Mated to an all-new, six-speed gearbox, the new-generation three-cylinder engine also features with start/stop functionality as standard. The engine allows ADAM to achieve combined cycle fuel consumption figures as low as 5.1-litres per 100 kilometres, with CO2 emissions of just 119 g/km.
