As with all driving tyres play a crucial roll and Vettel had a minor concern with a flat spotted tyre, but it was nowhere near enough of a problem to stop him from earning his sixth win of the season.
The battle for second place was mostly between Ferrari's Felipe Massa, the second Red Bull of Mark Webber and the second Ferrari of Fernando Alonso. Alonso showed some talent passing Webber and his team mate but could come nowhere near Vettel. Webber fought valiantly but was ordered to start short-shifting. He still managed to finish just a second behind Alonso.
In the end Vettel finished with a 5,4 second lead, which did not show the true nature of the German's dominance as he seemed to come off the pace quite a bit towards the end of the race.
In winning his sixth F1 race, Vettel moves to a massive 222 points while Fernando Alonso clings to second place with 169. Hamilton trails with his 141 points followed closely by Kimi Raikkonen on 134. Mark Webber increased his count to 130.
In the constructor's race Red Bull pull way ahead with a tally of 352 points, Ferrari reclaim second place with 248.
Next we're off to Singapore for the Singtel Singapore Grand Prix street circuit on Sunday the 22nd of September.
