Give a little this spring donate to Tafta

Give a little this spring donate to Tafta

Date: 2017-08-25

With spring almost upon us, Tafta (The Association for the Aged) is reaching out for support, from Durbanites for generous donations of unused quality goods to its charity shop.

Granny's Attic - the delightful store, located in Durban's CBD, stocks a miscellany of pre-loved, bargain-priced goods including ornaments, trinkets, linen, furniture and clothing. The proceeds generated from the sale of goods at Granny's Attic is injected back to Tafta in order to sustain the organisation's efforts in providing quality care to the elderly.

However tough economic times have left charities with low stock levels and the store is in need of boosting its limited inventory.

"We are proud to have a retail presence in the form of a charity shop which enables us to receive community support. However to keep our shop full and entice new customers, we are always appealing for donations," says Gail Samuels, Tafta's Marketing, Income Development and Public Relations, manager.

"So whether you are having a spring clean or have a few items, please consider donating them to us," appealed Samuels, "As we approach the season of change, why not begin your journey with Tafta by donating with a purpose."

In addition, donations to the Granny's Attic charity shop go further in assisting Tafta in its outreach programmes and funding needy pensioners. These include meal delivery services; assisting with their basic needs including personal hygiene and grooming as well as nursing assessments and other medical care procedures.

Tafta continues to rely on on-going support from donors and the broader public to continue to care for the elderly in Durban.

To help the organisation boosts its charity store inventory and for your convenience, Tafta can arrange to collect your items during the weekdays, Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm.

For weekend collections, prior arrangements would need to be made with Tafta's Donations Controller, Fatima Nzama on 031 - 332 3721 or email pr@tafta.org.za
