Jaspar Lepak & Rowan Stuart

Jaspar Lepak & Rowan Stuart

Date: 2014-04-11
LIVE in Kloof On a garden stage surrounded by fairy lights and stars, Bluestockings presents a very special concert with folk/Americana songstress Jaspar Lepak (USA) and local alternative pop artist Rowan Stuart on Friday 25 April 2014. Jaspar is back in the country for the first time in 3 years, and with only 3 shows lined up on her brief visit to Durbs, this is a rare chance to catch her in action, as she joins long-time friend and musical collaborator Rowan Stuart in concert.

While living in Durban from 2009 to 2011 with husband and accordion-player Kale Lepak, Seattle-based Jaspar Lepak won over a passionate and loyal fanbase with her bell-like voice and introspective storytelling, and "the kind of Americana, lullaby ghost of a voice that listeners search for in roots music" (Twin Cities A.V. Club). She performed on some of KZN's premier stages and recorded her sixth studio album, 'Forgiving Wind' on Durban soil. Her brand new, 2014 album 'Wide World', will be on sale at the show.

Armed with only an acoustic guitar and a loop pedal, Rowan Stuart paints a sonic landscape of Acoustic Alternative music, incorporating elements of folk, pop and world music, into a sound that is both deep and authentic. He is no stranger to Durban audiences, and while he is presently wrapping up a new acoustic album, entitled 'Hidden Doors', he has recently been seen collaborating with successful acts such as Just Jinjer, Nibs van der Spuy and Gangs of Ballet. This is guaranteed to be an unforgettable evening, with both artists eager to reunite and share new stories and new music. Book now by calling Narene on 083 659 3628 (ask for directions if this is your first time to the venue).

Entrance is R100. A full meal is available for R70 by pre-order only. Drinks will be available for purchase on the evening.
