The power was out yet again

The power was out yet again

Date: 2012-10-03
The power was out yet again, and as my UPS beeped its message of resignation, even the batteries were running out of power, I wondered if the ANC would begin beeping its own signal of the possibility that it too might be running out of power soon.

Not likely, a telephone call from the ever-vigilant Mike Bloxham had me riveted in his vociferous allegations. Mike has been instrumental in uncovering corruption, maladministration and a whole host of irregularities. With ties to the Hawks and the Scorpions, Mike does not pull his punches. The sad news Mike had for me was the insinuation that the Manase Report will not make it to court because the opposition party simply do not have the funds to go the distance. The Mayor refused to make it public citing the possibility that it would hinder the investigation that is in the process and at the same time jeopardise the identities of some of the whistle blowers.

What is the use of a police force without a judicial system? It's like having a Ferrari without wheels. The dog with no teeth, is most often the 'but end' of a joke. But while I'm bashing our judicial system, let me shake their hands in increasing the sentence given to convicted drug dealer Sheryl Cwele after she appealed against her conviction. Sheryl still has to rock up at the jailhouse, having not served a day's detention of her sentence.

But these are small problems compared to the warnings issued by Moscow to NATO, cautioning the self appointed world government against looking for and finding pretexts to initiate military action in Syria.

In the next breath North Korea lays the blame of increased tensions on the peninsula at the feet of the USA.

Let's face it, war is big business, there is no money to be made in saving the lives of starving children, that only costs money. Humanitarian aid is unsustainable. But war, that is a different story. The banking system loves lending money to government that is at war. They will agree to large percentages of interest and consume billions of dollars of debt. If they cant repay, then there are always the country's assets and population who can be held liable.

Naive as this may be, I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of it like this. The battle the Vatican has on its hands confirms my suspisions that the apple is now completely rotten to the core and movements like Occupy Wall Street, if not addressed properly will soon be in your living room in more ways than just on you rTV screen.

On the other side of the coin, Ian Poulter emerged as a hero when the European team came from behind to win the 39th Ryder Cup as a tribute to the legend Seve Balesteros in what is now known as the Miracle Of Medinah.
