Through My Eyes

Through My Eyes

Author: Kasia Yo

Life could be wonderful and inspiring. It could be sensational and fantastic all at once but (BUT) it so often isn't and therefore most of us, myself included, are trying to do whatever we can to make each day count. Putting on a happy face, (BIG SMILES) for the world to see. Steeling ourselves with gratitude and smiles as we navigate this whole mess we call life.

Look, I know I`m generalising and I know it`s a very strict rule in journalism not to project your own feeling onto your readers but please believe me when I tell you, I know where you're at and I'm there with you. Life is tricky right now, balancing on a knife`s edge.

Today is ominous.

It`s cold, dark and smelly. The sound of generators reverberates through my neighbourhood. I'm shivering slightly inside. Its ever so gentle, but my stomach is tight and my headaches and yes I am a little afraid, to be honest, my gut is wrenching and I feel the need to speak out, I am not the only person out there that knows that we just cannot afford to be 'down' for such an extended amount of time. These extended blackouts that we are experiencing are literally killing our already struggling businesses. Let's be honest here, who can afford this added expense to keeping our businesses alive?

What can we do to improve the service delivery that is obviously not happening in our country? How can we fix this problem that we are facing? There must be at least two dozen people in this country that can get together, put their resources to good use and come up with a rescue plan - there must be a saviour out there to guide us back into a thriving economy.

While some choose to pack up and go (I do not blame them, I wouldn't), others scale down, downgrade and restructure their lives to fit into the forever shrinking realities. But what happens when there is nothing left to scale back from? What then?

Let us all take a big universal breath of air. I remember an old friend once consoled me by saying; "This too shall pass" and yes I am going to go out there and be productive. I will put my big girl panties on and I will choose to be kind, whenever possible. I meditate on this daily and want to manifest it; as it does not come naturally to me anymore.

Life is tough now and it could possibly get tougher. We have to brace ourselves for the darkness and keep seeking the light wherever we go.
