A World Heritage Site Filled With Wonder

A World Heritage Site Filled With Wonder

Utshwayelo, Kosi Mouth Lodge & Camp is situated right at the entrance to Kosi Bay Mouth Lagoon, which is part of the natural wonder of the world that makes up Isimagaliso Wetland Park, it is also part of the World Heritage site.

This expansive piece of paradise has been kept pristine as it is part of the nature reserve, and Utshwayelo is right at the gate to Kosi Mouth. They have well kept camp sites for those of us who love tented camping, most sites are large enough for a caravan and a tent, some can take two caravans. The communal bathrooms are rudimentary and rustic but always clean.

Then they have chalets, some with a little kitchen and there are also a few luxury tented suites. These are more like glamping. If you're not into cooking for yourself, meals can be requested and arranged. The swimming pool and bar are great places to unwind, meet people and relax after a long day at the lagoon. There is also a communal kitchen with freezer storage for campers and of course the communal fireplace for campfires at night.

You will need a 4 X 4 to drive to the beach, but we often take the two and a half kilometre walk, it is filled with amazing views along the lake's edge and overlooking the fish kraals that have been in use for over a thousand years by the Tonga people. This is where the Lodge gets its name, and there is so much to do, we enjoy snorkelling in the lagoon and lounging on the beach as our two favourite activities when we visit there.

To book your stay in this unspoiled wilderness, email Utswayelo, Kosi Mouth Lodge & Camp at info@kosimouth.co.za. Alternatively phone Mike on 082 909 3113, or Enock on 084 644 2104.
