Support for St. Theresa's Home

Support for St. Theresa's Home

Date: 2018-06-15

St Henry's Marist College has enjoyed supporting St. Theresa's Home in Sydenham over a number of years as part of their outreach program.

St. Theresa's Home, provides quality, holistic care and support to 75 boys aged three to eighteen years of age in their residence and rely on the support of corporates and the community.

During the school term St Henry's Marist College pupils visit the boys at St. Theresa's on Wednesday afternoons to socialise, help with Maths, Science and English. Time is also spent colouring in, doing craft activities or playing with the younger boys.

"Through our outreach program we have also identified other areas where our school has been able to assist via collections of clothes, shoes, school stationery and toiletries. We have also hosted the boys at our various school productions," explains Mrs Sandy Batho - Head of Life Sciences.

Earlier this year the lounge, dining room, kitchen area and two cottages were painted and a sensory garden and vegetable garden where created by the College team during their staff development day. "Our next project involves painting the bedrooms of two cottages and arranging new bedding for the boys," concludes Mrs Batho.

If anyone would like to get involved or assist, please visit https://www.st-theresashome.co.za or contact Mrs Sandy Batho on 031 - 261 7369.
