Driving First Class

Driving First Class

Author: Tomas Yoko

My knuckles did not turn white as the speedometer effortlessly moved towards a speed indication that would probably have me locked away for a very long time. Quite to the contrary, I have never felt so relaxed at such an illegal speed as that. I did not even break into a sweat, in fact I think I only had one hand on the wheel.

I was driving the supremely powerful Jaguar XJ 5.0 litre supercharged V8. For the most part I was completely unaware of what speed I was going, the Adaptive Dynamics System of the Jaguar XJ, monitors the car as much as 500 times per second, adjusting the damping to suit the road conditions.

The XJ provided one of the smoothest rides I have ever experienced in all my years as a motoring journalist. This car is right up there at the top of my favorite cars list.

With the massive 405 kilowatts of power that the five litre engine produces, even I needed complete command. This is a big car and although the extremely rigid all aluminum body architecture reduces the weight of the XJ, making it the lightest car in its class, it is still a heavyweight. Driving this car I would never have said, it felt like a feather under my grip.

The whisper smooth eight speed automatic gearbox behaved superbly, I never wanted for more, not even once.

The XJ is filled to the brim with driver assistance systems and can even be monitored from your smartphone via an app.

This is next level motoring, this is Jaguar going the extra mile and leading the way to absolute luxury.

There is so much to this vehicle, you simply have to test drive one. Contact Jaguar Ballito on 032 946 ???? or visit their showroom at ??????? Moffat Drive, Ballito and experience the sublime.
