Tall and small,DHS welcomed them all

Tall and small,DHS welcomed them all

Date: 2017-01-13
On Monday, 09 January 2017, Durban High School welcomed around 200 pupils into grade 8 on for their first day of orientation, as little fish in the big High School pond.

Although the school year officially starts on Wednesday, it is tradition for DHSto invite the grade 8 learners to become familiar with learning what it means to be a part of the brotherhood ofDHS.

All learners and their parents were welcomed by the prefect body at the school gates, with parents being invited for tea and the learners being officially welcomed by the heads of department in the AJ Human room as well as head prefect, Phendulani Buthelezi who encouraged the learners to get involved and make the most of their time atDHS, striving to be the best that they can.

The learners were then divided into groups and given a tour of the school. Then it was on to a number of sporting trials and tests.

With nervousness and excitement being the general feeling amongst all the "newbies", they seemed to feel 'a part' of DHS once they had met the prefects, toured the school premises and learned what it is to be a learner at Durban's oldest school.
