Ashton Children Support Woodridge School
Last Friday parents were invited to the final Assembly of Ashton International College to proudly watch our children step onto stage and receive Merit and Awards of Excellence for Academic, Sport and Dance Achievements. It was a wonderful morning filled with enthusiasm, lots of tears and great hope and blessings from the significant reading of Hebrew 12.1
It has always been Ashton's value principle to groom well-balanced children with open, inquiring minds, steeped in good human values ultimately creating individuals who will make a meaningful contribution to the society in which they live.
And in keeping with this vision the highlight of the morning was the very sincere and kind gesture of the Grade 7s of Ashton College, who from their entrepreneur program where they learn about the basic principles of business and after months of planning and preparation, they hold their Moonlight Market where they sell goods to the school and community.
Each year, The Grade 7s decide on a charity to which they donate a percentage of their profits. This year the students decided to donate a percentage of their profits to Woodridge School in Knysna that lost half of their school buildings in the horrific fires 3 weeks ago. The donation of over R10 000 will go towards the rebuilding of 9 classrooms that are so desperately needed to reopen the school. Our children taking care of others. What a wonderful gesture where Ashton has been instrumental in creating this caring and relevant educational experience to allow children to reach their full potential.
This gave us parents a sense of peace and comfort knowing that the values that have been created for the school does not rest in the constituition but permeates the air of Ashton College and entices our children to want to be their best for themselves and for the benefit of others.
