A night of fun and laughter at the Annual Sunflower Celebration

A night of fun and laughter at the Annual Sunflower Celebration

Date: 2016-11-04
It was an evening of fun, food and festivities at The Sunflower Fund's Annual Sunflower Celebration that was held at the Sea Cottage Room of the Greyville Convention Centre on Friday 28th October. Guests were treated to a delicious two course meal and a surprise dessert courtesy of Eat Greek Caterers, live music by the talented ensemble 'Dishevelled' and the zany comedy musical 'Dear Breeder' featuring Karen Logan and Kasia Vosloo.

The celebratory event is directly related to The Sunflower Fund's brand new national campaign, Sunflower Day, which is the organisation's biggest fundraising and awareness drive for the year. Each guest was gifted with The Sunflower Fund's new commemorative product, a trendy 2016 Tope (Tube of Hope) and the ladies were further treated to an exclusive Esse organic product each.

Event compere, David Yapp of MRP Radio, had the crowd on their toes with his comedic antics and the lovely Alice Leah, of The A-List conducted an auction with a difference raising a significant R16000 alone. Also attending the event was Round Table Southern Africa representative, Calvin Brophy, who presented The Sunflower Fund with a cheque for a whopping R323750 from the sale of Topes that the Tablers assisted in selling this year.

The event raised a worthy R33 476 which will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness, and to educate and recruit more stem cell donors to increase the number of people registered on the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR) and offer the hope of life to someone suffering from a chronic blood condition like leukaemia.

The Sunflower Fund would like to thank the valued guests for their support, the Greyville Convention Centre, Black Coffee, Eat Greek Caterers, the cast of 'Dear Breeder, Dishevelled, David Yapp, Alice Leah, Esse, Venga Juice, Remax Panache, Blink Mints, Vibrant Direct and all other associated sponsors.
