KwaDukuza Mayor Cllr Ricardo Mthembu this week, presided over the official opening of a number of infrastructure projects that will create jobs, beef-up the local economy and provide access to key points of entries in the rural sections of various communities.
He handed over Mahambehuba Bridge in Malende Upper area that is worth 4.7 Million, which took about eight months to complete.
"We applaud the community of Ward 9 for being part of this huge project, this will certainly enhance the local economy through access to areas which were previously inaccessible as a result of flooding in the past".
Mthembu also officiated the 3,2KM road improvement project that amounted to a staggering R15,7 million.
He said these are some of theBack to Basicsefforts to ensure government delivers according to the needs of the people as expressed in the Integrated Development Plan.
The road upgrade will not only contribute towards strengthening our economy and creating jobs but will also promote road safety in strategic entry points of rural communities.
He handed over the Mgigimbe Community Hallthat is valued at R1,9 million.
Mthembu said, "It is a clear that government is taking the needs of the community very seriously. We acknowledge that there's still a lot to be done in this community."
