The Soul has no boundaries

Sunday afternoon, Kampara Conference center became the vehicle where by Carnatic Vocal genius and Ballitoville resident, Shri Karthiegasen Pillay transported and astounded his appreciative audience to a realm beyond what we know and trust. This was his coming out party, an offering of his divine art to give thanks to the presiding Deities who have helped him during his trying times. Karthiegasen Pillay has recently been diagnosed with renal failure and is currently being prepared for a Kidney Transplant. His days are spent at the renal unit of Gateway Hospital where he now has become a hero, a motivation to all. And on Sunday we were blessed to have a visual experience of how the physical body is detached from the soul and the soul has no boundaries when connected to a higher force.

Karthiegasen proved to all that his blessing is beyond the physical body. He was in his element, powerful and captivating with his magnetic charm. He stormed into the world of Music from a very tender age of 3 and learning from his late father Mr. Sunny Pillay, Shri TN Seshagopalan and other eminent Gurus in India developed his illustrious career with a rich repertoire and compositions of Manodharma Sangeeta (spontaneous creations)which has created his individuality and uniqueness because of his great depth of knowledge, commitment to traditional values and aesthetics, expertise in Tala or timing, his unconventional approach, his musical & mathematical virtuosity and the most important ingredient is his sincerity and poignant bhava or notes bursting with emotions that captivates anyone or element that these notes fall upon. His roaring voice brought upon torrential showers of blessings in Clare Estate on Sunday when all over KZN was sunshine. It is written in the Vedas our holy scriptures that it is only elevated souls, divine beings that on aligning their soul to the energies of the universe can bring upon rain as a form of blessing.

His program was a variety of Carnatic treasures with intricate ragas or melodies, ranging from a Varnam in Mohanam done in 6 speeds a first for South Africa, to a tribute to his late father in Ananda Bhairavi and the highlight of the afternoon was his magical and complex Ragam Tanam Palavi a traditional item in a Carnatic Musical Repertoire, in ragam Dharmavathi. It was out of this world, beyond brilliant and executed with such ease and sophistication. Before us sat a devotee of his sadhana, a servant that has committed himself to propagating the art of Carnatic Music in SA and globally. He now has become an inspiration to many using his art as a medium to promote and educate individuals about Organ Donation. Making us aware that our one body can save 7 lives and that we do not have to wait till THE DAY, but can contribute to Live Donation. Let us support him by going online https://www.odf.org.za and register to save lives. Karthiegasen is the perfect model for all individuals searching for the absolute, it resides within us.
