Hippocrates (born 460BC) is widely credited as being the father of modern medicine. One of his huge contributions in advancing the field was the insight into the fact that diseases could have natural ( rather than supernatural) causes.

The history of healing and medicine is an amazing story full of drama, comparable to the likes of 'Game of Thrones' .... For thousands of generations humans across the planet survived the continuous onslaught from bacteria and viruses armed only with only berries, herbs, flowers and seeds.

This invaluable information was safe guarded by the woman of the tribe passed down from mother to daughter. It was the value of this information and the power to prolong life that gave rise to jealousy and corruption, medicine woman were called witches and burned at the stake.

Men took over the role of healer and the bulk of information was lost only to be rediscovered centuries later. ... Life continued to get more complicated as societies grew larger and so to did the bacteria and viruses become more complex.

Diet and hygiene became poorer and the average lifespan got shorter and shorter until society looked to religion for the answers. The power of the faith is a true wonder however not all ailments required an exorcism or repentance ...

Eventually society questioned these healing practices and a few brave individuals risked all to look inside the human body for answers.

This birthed 'modern medicine' and treating conditions with chemistry and surgery instead of religion. Unfortunately for society this new approach involved mostly Mercury poisoning and blood letting, too many died figuring out that this treatment did not cure much at all.

Finally we looked to nature again for answers and life got back on track, in the bac kground however the pharmacological revolution began. This gave rise to the 'business' of modern medicine, as we know it. The herbs, flowers and seeds were all studied and progressively synthesized converted into capsules and tablets.

Business was booming, everything was under control and society was safe under the care of pharmaceutical companies. These companies only had ne problem, the herbalists that were still pract1crn g medicine. So for almost 100 years government's outlawed these healers and many of the plants they utilized like cannabis for example. The awakening of societies around the world has given rise to the search for information that has been kept fr om us fo rcing governments to change policies. We are becoming more aware of our diet and the direct link to our health and happiness.

Lets take the power of healing back into our homes and make it a part of our daily lives again.
