Umhlali Preparatory was delighted to hear of one of its music stars being awarded one of the two prestigious Music Scholarship awards for Grade 8 2014 at Northlands Girls' High School.Pictured is Joanie Cassidy with UPS Music Teacher Pat Van Log on hearing of the exciting news.Joannie cannot wait to become an NGHS pupil next year and in particular have the chance to study music in the 10 roomed, fully equipped, air-conditioned music centre with two top music teachers to guide her.

The Rising Star Academy youngster is well known for her role in HONK! in 2012 and her passion for music and the theatre earned her the prestigious scholarship.Northlands Girls' High School is one of the few schools to offer Music to matric level and all Grade 8 and Grade 9 pupils take music as a subject giving each girl the opportunity to read and write music and to learn to play the recorder and violin.The award winning choir is very well known and the school has produced many talented singers and musicians in its six decade history.
