SAWF fundraiser a huge success

SAWF fundraiser a huge success

Date: 2018-12-07

The South African Women's Forte (SAWF), a non-profit organisation established in 1997, hosted a hugely successful fundraiser on 17 November 2018 at Coastlands Umhlanga for their nominated charities for 2018.

The African Splendour themed event was well supported and funds were raised for the:

1. The Open Door Crisis Care Centre -Ikhaya Themba Shelter for abused women, children at risk and victims of human trafficking and,

2. Phoenix Child Welfare - community homes for abused and abandoned children (one for boys and one for girls)

Gracing this gala event as the guest speaker was Dr S'thembile Ngidi, Kwa-Zulu Natal's first black female oncologist, who shared about her journey to achieve this accolade, and encouraged the guests to always persevere in achieving their dreams.

"The team at the SAWF pulled out all stops during 2018 to raise awareness and funding for our nominated charities. They have gone above and beyond, on a volunteer basis, to make every fundraising initiative a well rounded success. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to every individual who made this event and year a success. Here's looking forward to a successful 2019 and support from the community and businesses alike!' commented Kalai Pillay, SAWF president.

And as the SAWF motto goes, we will continue to 'do what we can for a better tomorrow'.
