Driving The CX-5

Driving The CX-5

Author: Tomas Yoko
Date: 2016-11-11
Behind the wheel of the Mazda CX-5 I could only marvel at how under rated this SUV from Mazda is. The elevated drivers position has so much visibility and the plush leather seats had me leaning back into the driver's seat with a sense of opulent luxury.

On the open road the CX-5 was deceptively stable, so stable in fact that I had to keep taking my foot off the accelerator as the speedometer kept creeping over the speed limit. The suspension and chassis produced such a smooth ride I could not feel the speed. I turned to the technology in the CX-5, of which there is a whole range, and engaged the cruise control, an effortless system that was very easy to manipulate. The rest of my journey was an indulgent concert controlled by the audio controls on the steering wheel. The Land Keep Assist function was there for me, should I get too carried away with my concert.

In heavy traffic the CX-5 was just as comfortable, the Dual Zone Aircon kept my passenger and I cool and the stop - go of the traffic did not irk me at all.

Driving the CX-5 filled me with confidence, the six airbags and the Dynamic Stability Control with the Traction Control System added to the feeling of being totally taken care of.

I went through the motions of a few emergency braking tests and the Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Emergency Brake Assist performed remarkably well. There was a feeling of control and even when swerving while braking the CX-5 felt positive and under control.

I recommend you take a test drive in the Mazda CX-5, contact CMH Mazda Umhlanga on 031 - 502 5565 or vivit their showroom at 89 Flanders Drive, Mount Edgecombe and feel the positivity.
