Two Durban Women Plan Epic African Adventure
Geyser and Laing will be competing as The Pink Panthers with other teams with quirky names like The Quarter Bunnies, Chicks for Change and The Retired Rentals. The trek takes the intrepid adventurers though seven countries in 17 days, from Botswana to Namibia, through Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique and back to South Africa. This adventure-charity rally was launched last year to raise funds for Project Rhino KZN and The Put Foot Foundation which aims to donate 405 pairs of shoes to underprivileged children in Zambia. Durban Girls College have assisted The Pink Panthers in donating a massive sock collection.
"Project Rhino KZN is made up of 15 like-minded organisations raising awareness for the truly horrific plague and crime of Rhino Poaching," explained Geyser. "The rally's goal is to sponsor two fully equipped anti-poaching rhino teams and we know we are going to achieve this!" said a confident Geyser.
"We see ourselves as a group of 58 ordinary teams of people doing something extraordinary raising funds for these two charities. We have hosted two successful fundraisers in order to raise funds for the two charities. The response from friends, family and complete strangers has been inspiring" said Geyser.
Chev South Africa has sponsored their 2.2L Captiva which can be seen on display at the Top Gear show on the 16th/17th June.
